So all you fans that screamed “Nike Air” are set to be happy, as the Jordan brand has listened. For the remastered series, a favourite has returned to its full OG silhouette. The Air Jordan 5 black metallic silver hasn’t been away from the scene for too long, we first saw it retro’d in 2011. However, these metallic 5s see an increase in premium materials, the return of the 90’s Air Max branding and the removal of the 23 embroidery.

The Air Jordan 5 was first released in February 1990. Only 4 colourways were made available to the public and two of the models had Jordan’s “23” embroidered on the side. Only 100 pairs of the Jordan branded exclusive pairs were made, and these were donated to children and charities.
These Jordans were also the first in their kind to have a clear rubber sole, Tinker Hatfield took the idea from the Nike Marty MacFly’s he designed for the Back to the Future II movie. These were also the first shoes to see foam moulded into the shoe upper.
