From its Fantastic Four beginnings, the Nike Dr Doom Foams are all set for their latest re-invention, and we’ve got everything you need to know about these classic kicks.
To celebrate the unfortunately panned Fantastic Four film, Nike created their own unofficial collection based on the comic book gang, taking on different iconic models and giving them a fresh colour way to represent each character. Mr Fantastic got the Nike Air Max 90, Invisible Woman got the Nike Air Force 1 Low, The Thing got the Nike Dunk High, and the Human Torch got the Nike Air Max 95.
Despite the somewhat lacklustre reception for the pack, with the statement design of the Invisible Woman design not quite working in reality, the fifth release, and the villain of the release, turned out to be the most successful and is set for a 2016 re-release. Super villain inventor and sorcerer Dr Doom took on the Nike Air Foamposite Pro, with the classic black and white colour way offering an understated, clean finish which complemented the textured design of the striking Air Foamposite model.
Although we’ll have to wait a bit for any more Fantastic Four re-releases, we’re content so far with this versatile colour way, the subtle detailing helping to create a more textured finish that stops the trainer from looking too simplified.
Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Dr Doom’
The striking contrast between the white sole, jewelled swoosh and lining, and the matte black upper and lacing creates a smooth, fluid look that’s both classic and yet maintains a modern edge. The textured sides add a subtle hint of dimension to the trainer, and the addition of a smooth white swoosh planted between the raised ridges, keeps the look balanced. The trainer also benefits from all the Nike Foamposite features, including ZoomAir™ unit and inner bootie construction, which ensures a comfortable, sturdy fit.
