Mizuno are one of Japan’s best known sneaker brands, however they couldn’t of created the 90’s classic Wave Rider silhouette without the help of fellow Japanese brand Mita. The OG Wave Rider is now being bought back in all its glory.
Mizuno have been in business since 1906, and are still at the pinnacle of sportswear technology. However in the grand scheme of things, that is what they are – a sportswear brand. Mita on the other hand, sell sneakers – fashionable sneakers. Therefore, the two institutions have joined forces to collaborate on the Wave Rider, a silhouette that was debuted by Mizuno in 1998. This is certainly one for the hardened sneakerheads, featuring many small details that we all know and love.
The sneaker is said to be inspired by Berlin’s Olympic stadium and its famous blue running track, which has been said to encourage calmness and concentration among athletes. The upper is constructed from blue nylon and pigskin nubuck which sits upon a grey speckled midsole – a feature which is never overlooked. Performance wise, it’s guaranteed this pair won’t let you down, with the ever comfortable Wave Plate technology underfoot.
If you’re liking this 90’s inspired sneaker as much as we are, the good news is that you’ll be able to pick up a pair from select retailers from this weekend, the 3rd March to be exact. This may well be a limited release and there is a hype surrounding these, so if you’ve got your heart set on a pair make sure you have a plan of action to avoid disappointment.
