40 Best Widow’s Peak Hairstyles For Men

by Welcome to Outsons August 25, 2019

Let’s face it. Every man dreads the day when his hair gets thinner, or even worse- his hairline recedes. Unfortunately nature works in weird and wonderful ways, which is not always what everyone wants to hear. Enter the dreaded Widow’s Peak- the unsightly mid phase of balding (often creating an “M” shape on the forehead). But not to fear, this can be helped and styled in such a way that nobody will notice… After reading this article you might even forget yourself!

#1: Slicked, short peaks

If you’re looking for a straightforward hairstyle for a widow’s peak, look no further. Keep the length short and sharp, using some product to finish. Although this will not mask a receding hairline, this one is a no-nonsense style  for the no-nonsense man.

#2: The Sweepover

Have a considerable amount of hair and don’t want to get rid of it? Maybe the answer is to let it do its thing by parting it to one side (whichever feels like your natural parting). By letting your hair fall naturally, this will detract from any potential hair loss and is a definite and solid look for any man.

#3: Block Fringe with Fade

If you have enough maneuvre of hair length to do so, try sweeping your hair forwards to get it styled into a full block fringe. This look is somewhat edgy and daring, but it can completely disguise your widow’s peak. As shown in the example below, soften the look with faded sides and finish with styling wax.

#4: Classic Man Bun

Always a staple look for the metropolitan man- The Man Bun. Although this look won’t mask a receding hairline, it is sometimes better to embrace your style and switch it up. If you are lucky enough to have a long flowing mane, style it up in a bun for a fresh look.

#5: The Hemsworth

As you can see, even Mr Hemsworth himself doesn’t hide his Widow’s peak. If you have a mid to long hair type, just run a comb through your hair and let the front sections fall naturally.

#6: Slicked Back

Although it will not cover a widow’s peak, this bold look is still suave and sophisticated for the everyday man. If your hair is reasonably thick, you could also get away with a shape up to level out any unsightly push backs in your hair line. Complete the look with styling gel and a comb to achieve a neat finish.

#7: Short, Smart and Sharp

As modelled by Mr Jude Law himself, this look embraces the hairline whilst making the most of his natural locks. Use a brush and a small amount of product to achieve this look (looks great on guys with stubble or beards!). #8: Rough and Rugged

Another solid look for men with facial hair, this look is easy to achieve and maintain. As long as you have mid to long thick hair, let nature do the talking! Who cares about a receding hairline when you have a thick mane anyway?

rough and rugged

#9: Soft Side Waves

For mid length and thick hair, this natural look can work wonders for any hairline. Using a comb and your fingers, gently sweep your hair to one side, whilst ruffling softly to achieve a slightly tousled look. Definitely a great option and a safe bet for uncertain punters.

soft waves

#10: The Wave

Feeling a little wacky? Why not create a strong hold wave in your hair? Not a favourite for everyone, however a bold look that will make you stand out from the crowd. Nobody will notice your widow’s peak after this one!

#11: The Tousled Top

A carefree style that can sort out most mis-shaped hairlines- AKA the Tousled Top. As seen in the image below, the key to this is styling wax and no comb. If your Widow’s peak is fairly noticeable, use your front section of hair to disguise it. And that’s all there is to it!

#12: The C-Breezy

Ever wonder if you would suit the same hairline as Chris Brown? Maybe now’s your chance to find out. With this style, there is some scope for taking back the hairline to get a clean straight line.

#13: Tall Peaks

If you’re a man about town and you like the attention on you, this might be the solution. Instead of taking away any more hair, utilise what nature gave you! This one is best for men with thick hair, using extra firm hold styling wax and a grooming comb to make your hair (truly) stand on end.

tall peaks

#14: Short Fuzz Fade

If you’re fed up with your whole look at present, this option is a smart solution to your current hairy situation. Highly recommended for business men and professionals alike, going slightly shorter might just be the perfect new style- plus you can hide the widow’s peak in a new shape up… Two in one.

#15: Slicked to One Side

If you tend to be business-minded or attending formal events on a regular basis, this is a solid look for any man. Our personal advice would be to leave your hairline as it is, and just style the hair from your natural parting using styling gel and a comb. Works best on thicker hair types.

slick sweep

#16: Wispy and Wild

A romantic and wild look for the aspirational writer or creative man. If you can’t bear to cut off your locks, keep your hair to its natural length and use some styling product to create this tousled look. The wilder, the better!

wispy peaks

#17: The Neat Sweep

The solution to your hair problem might just be to keep it neat. Ask your barber to  shape up the sides and keep it mid to long length on top. For a tidier finish, get  sharp finish (as shown below) and use styling product.

neat sweep

#18: Wet and Wild

If you have room for maneuvre, use the from section of your hair with styling wax to create a dewy and fresh look. Whether you step out into the rain or style it yourself, this trending style will make people forget about your hairline mishaps.

#19: Crowned Top

For the well-groomed man, this look can almost work in harmony with a widow’s peak. Sounds strange, but weirdly this look complements a hairline that is not dead straight (see example below). Still unsure? Grab some styling wax, put volume in your hair and see what you think for yourself.

crowned top

#20: Tousled Pixie

Loosely inspired by impish, cheeky folklore creatures, this look is fresh and easy to achieve for guys on the go. Use a small amount of wax and your fingers to tease your hair to one side. The rougher, the better!

#21: Bold Top, Short Sides

If you have a receding hair issue, why not make a bold statement? If your barber has sharp skills, he will be able to fix up your fade in no time. Finish with wax to keep your top under control.

#22: The DiCaprio

Whether we accept or deny it, everyone loves Leonardo DiCaprio’s unmissable sense of style and cool. A great look for mature men or guys on the go, simply use some gel and a comb to style the hair slightly to one side. An easily achievable and low maintenance look that will never go amiss. #23: The Samurai Bun

Similarly to a Man Bun, a Samurai Bun is an “up-do” but with a slightly neater finish. For this look, keep the hair slightly higher up on your head and achieve the slick look with a small amount of styling gel and a comb. Perfect for businessmen who can’t bear to part with their locks.

#24: Bald and Bold

If the worst comes to worst, going for a full clean shave is always a fresh look or a back up option. Sometimes the most suitable styles can come from pure experimentation!

bald

#25: Shape-up

Instead of cowering from your current hairline, why not completely reshape it? Shape ups in 2018 can be any shape or style you desire (just don’t take inspiration from corporate logos- that look is never ok). Be bold, be daring- don’t let your widow’s peak define you.

shapeup

#26: Short and Styled

Keep it short, keep it in shape. No fuss and no nonsense style for the everyday man. If it doesn’t work out to be the best look for you, wait a couple of weeks for it to grow out to try another style!

short and styled

#27: The Farrell

Keep your locks long and sweep them back. If you have long hair like Colin Farrell’s, embrace it and don’t feel insecure about any hair loss- if Farrell can pull it off, so can you!

colin farrell

#28: Curls for Days

If you’re lucky enough to be blessed with curly locks, don’t cut them off! Tease and style your natural barnet (this will be easier to mask any hair loss if your hair is of a reasonable length). A solid and enviable look.

curls

#29: The Neat Sweep

Fancy a neat and easy to manage style? Look no further. Whether your hair is already short or you want to sharpen up your style, having a chop can both make you feel clean and sophisticated but your hairline can also be shaped in the process. We personally recommend that you don’t have too much taken off the front, however if you can get your barber to neaten up your hairline at the same time, you’re on to a winner.

short neat sweep

#30: Mid-length Loose Locks

If your hair is a long length, maybe the answer for you is to just have a shoulder length trim. Nothing too drastic, just a little change in style that can freshen up your look and keep you feeling confident. A change in hair length can sometimes be the key to boosting your morale without making any major changes to your look.

mid length

#31: Rippled Top

Gel + a comb = A sophisticated look for the modern day dapper man. Although this style takes some practice, its worth the wait- a great look to detract any attention from a receding hairline.

rippled top

#32: To The Point

A style that might be considered daring- why not fully embrace your “M” hairline and make a feature from it? Not a favourite for all, however its arguable that you can’t always fight nature. As they say, if you can’t beat them, join them.

to the point

#33: Thick Wave

If your hair is naturally thick, use it to its advantage by styling upwards into a neat wave (by most standards not the easiest style to pull off, but a dapper style that may become your go-to). Experimentation is key!

thick wave

#34 Long and Loose Locks

For those with long and luscious locks, the answer to your issues may be just to leave the length as it is but simply style it a little to give it a rugged look. By sweeping the forefront of your hair over to one side as shown below, this can detract attention from any unwanted receding hairlines and give you that extra je ne sais qois.

long and loose

#35: Styled Top, Short Sides

A fresh and young style for any unfortunate hairlines- great for thicker hair types. If your hair is of a reasonable length, pull the hair forwards using styling products to get a rugged look.

short sides

#36: The Maverick

Take a walk on the wild side. A great change up for younger guys, but a bold one to say the least. Keep the sides short and sharp, and use product to tease your hair into a spike at the front (you can go as daring with this look as you want). Styling your hair in this way will detract from any hair loss and definitely get people’s heads turning.

maverick

#37: Thick Sweep

If you are naturally blessed with a thick mane of hair (even after having a receding hairline), brush it to one side and use styling products if necessary. We don’t recommend cutting off much hair in this style- the thicker, the better.

Thick sweep

#38: Neat Combover

Before you jump to any conclusions, this look is a cooler than it sounds. Nowadays, the term “combover” is associated with maturer men (usually with no or little regards for style), however this is no longer the case. If you are blessed with long, thick hair, try going short on the sides and flipping it all to one side. Nobody will even know you had a widow’s peak with this look!

combover

#39: Natural Locks

Sometimes its best to let nature do its thing. If you have a slight curl to your hair, it can sometimes naturally cover any hairline mishaps that you may have. Works best for mid to long hair types.

natural locks

#40: New Hairline

Sometimes you just need to do what you need to do to sort out your hairline. If its beyond coverable, go short and get it sharpened up. Nothing too fancy, just a solid style and great solution for uneven hairlines.
